Next Generation Touch Screen Will be Borderless
Nowdays there are more and more smart phone using the touch screen to replace the use of keypad buttons. A material company 3M has identified that the average touch-screen smart phones in the market now has a thick Bezel around the touch screen.
And now there is a latest innovation for the touch screen and the processor which allows a touch screen stretch its edge to the border side of a mobile phone – in other word the screen is without using bezel. Currently, the touch screen works using transparent conductive layer below the screen, which functions to detect the movement of the fingers. Then there is a circuit below the bezel or the screen border in transmitting the movement on the screen to the processor.
3M material company claimed to have found the technology to remove bezel and at the same time replace its function. That is to replace the circuit of the ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) to Silver. This innovation will make the resulting bezel size becomes thinner / smaller and also decreased response time significantly up to 10x.
